Oct 24: and Spanish

The site has gone through a couple of revisions this weekend.

Localization:

I installed the WBGlobus plugin that supports simple localization. It means things like pages, categories, and our data will need to be in both English and Spanish. It seems like a good enough solution for now. The primary reason for adding it now is to see what complexities result. Better to find out now.

Data:

Added description, language, and tags field to the database.

My thought is we’ll have both English and Spanish data and filter all the searches on the language field. I’m not sure what I ant to do for untranslated data. Ideally the Spanish won’t lag far behind the English.

Appearance:

I added a couple of appearance and layout things.

  1. The header image.
  2. A “go local” icon which we’ll need to join to continue to use.
  3. A disclaimer
  4. Some social media icons. We’ll need to create pages for those or decide facebook isn’t important

Category pages:

I’ve updated the categories to match the full list. One of our next big pieces is to get a version one list of categories based on our available data. Several seem unlikely to have many items and perhaps should be combined.
